Live Edge Dining Table From the Biltmore Estate Asheville,NC
This live edge dining table was cut from a 400+ year old White Oak tree harvested from the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC.
Number 3 of 5.
One of the slabs cut from this tree was made into a table for the late William Amherst Vanderbilt Cecil
Two summers ago I had the fortunate opportunity to purchase the four slabs that remained.
Offered today is this beautifully figured Live Edge White Oak Table. A rare find with only five in existence.
Quarter sawn flecks and beautiful “flaming”. A very large section of “curl” also. Super remarkable grain patterns. Eastern Hemlock pine cones and bits of turquoise were used in filling the small voids. Remarkable live edge. Solid hardwood throughout. A hand rubbed lacquer finish ensures years of hassle free use. Our proprietary flattening system will keep this table flat for another 400 years, while allowing seasonal movement.
The base is made from 200 year old hand hewn timbers. The table supports are 2″ thick figured white oak. Hand cut mortise and tenon joinery ensures generations of use. The center “trestle” is made from twisted steel to form a rope.
This table will hold an elephant
